What Makes a Woman Attractive?

A lot of women ask my wife, Marie, "what makes a woman attractive?"
Beauty is something most women struggle to achieve, in the midst of their busy schedules and the crazy advertisements that hit them daily. In this blog, Marie shares one real beauty secret that erases those frown lines, puts a sparkle in your eyes, and a smile on your lips.

Magazines, billboards, commercials are loaded with airbrushed celebrities.

As busy women, wives and moms, we think, there is no way we can be beautiful when the baby is crying, the hubby is rushing and yes, someone forgot his school deadline again.

But let me tell you one real beauty secret:
A JOYFUL ATTITUDE is the best thing we can apply each day.
It erases frown lines, puts a sparkle in your eyes, and a smile on your lips.
It makes you look years younger too!

John Ortberg writes in his book “The Life You’ve Always Wanted”:

“We all live with the illusion that joy will come someday when conditions change.
We go to school and think we will be happy when we graduate.
We are single and we are convinced we will be happy when we get married.
We get married and we decide we will be happy someday when we have children.
We have children and decide we will be happy when they grow up and leave the nest.
Then they do, and we think we were happier when they were still at home.”

“The first step for pursuing JOY is simply to begin NOW".

The psalmist says, "This is the day…” He doesn’t say, ‘Yesterday was God’s day—how happy I was then.’ Nor does he say. ‘Tomorrow will be the great day—I’ll just endure until then.’ THIS day, with all its shortcomings, is the great Dee Dah Day.

This is God’s day, the psalmist says. It is the day God made, a day that Christ’s death redeemed.”

How wonderful to think that God made this special day for you and me. Our lives, special in their uniqueness, are made up of God-given and Christ-redeemed days. What a privilege it is to be alive as a most loved child of God!

How do we cultivate a Joyful Attitude?

1. Joy comes by living Life as a CHILD first, as an adult, second.

Be a child of God first when you wake up.

Yes, there are things to do and places to go, mouths to feed, responsibilities to fulfill. Stress comes when you’re depending on yourself to make things happen. It is hard to be joyful when the world is on your shoulders.

But Joy is living life as a child who has a dependent relationship with her heavenly Father, a dad who can do all things.

“God, you have the answers for this day. I depend on You to guide me.”

You may be an adult but you remain as God’s child. You are not the perennial parent who needs to have everything under control and required to solve every problem that comes my way. Wake up every day not as an orphaned grown-up, but as God’s beloved child.

You have a Heavenly Dad with supernatural strength who parents and instructs you everyday, even as you parent your child.

2. Joy Comes from a Thankful Heart & Mouth.

When you eat something sour, it shows on your face.
A negative, complaining attitude withers relationships.
Your husband, children, family, LIFE will never be good enough for you.
Let’s cure diarrhea of the mouth that just spills out every negative emotion we happen to feel that day. Not every thought needs to be tweeted, you know.

“Watch out for the joy-stealers: gossip, criticism, complaining, faultfinding, and a negative, judgmental attitude.” (Joyce Meyer)

I’ve yet to see a verse in the Bible of Mary complaining, even when life got extremely hard for her. But I’ve seen verses of her privately “pondering”.

“But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart.” Luke 2:19

Discretion is knowing what to communicate in Facebook and what to ponder on privately. Praise in public, but rant in private.

3. Joy is Knowing God is Trust-worthy.

Sure Mayweather may be happy with his winnings, but Pacquaio has a joy that money can’t buy.

The Bible is full of God’s promises. Perhaps He’s spoken specific ones to you and your household. He has promised never to leave you or forsake you.
He has promised to be your defender and your very great reward.

Godly women know when to fight joy-stealers. When the enemy comes to bring discouragement, fight back. Aggressively declare aloud the promises of God in His word.

Seriously, there are days I just recite verses aloud like a crazy woman in the privacy of my home. If a kidnapper came to take your child, would you not aggressively fight back? In the same way, there are “spiritual kidnappers” we boldly reject: fear, lust, unbelief, etc.

We fight back, live in faith and protect our families with the Word of God.

So Ladies, the moment you wake-up.
Before you put on your make-up…
Say a little prayer
And Put on that Joyful attitude!

Let the joy of the Lord be your strength…and your beauty secret!

“This IS the day that the Lord has made, Let us REJOICE and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24

My Comments Policy

While my site offers visitors the ability to converse, I have a few ground rules so that our conversations will remain civil and courteous.

1. You must register in order to leave a comment. I don’t entertain pseudo, anonymous or bogus individuals. This site is my home (it has a Home Page, get it). I don’t let strangers who don’t introduce themselves into my home.

2. I love questions. I love them because a lot of times they are similar to someone else’s questions and can even trigger other questions from others. Questions also keep us all sharp. This is also why I respond to them as best as I can and at the soonest possible time. I believe that group answering benefits more people than private email exchanges.

3. We don’t have to agree. Debates are welcome. However, whether it is with me or any other visitors of my site, my rule is this: disagree if you must but keep things civil. That’s just how I run my home, and you are a visitor here. No shouting; I have seen it done in writing. No cursing and no insulting.

4. I reserve the right to delete your comments. Like I said, this is my home. I do not have an obligation to publish your comments. As a human being, you may enjoy the freedom to express your opinions on your own site but not on mine. To be specific, I will delete your comments if you post content that is in my sole opinion: (a) snarky; (b) off-topic; (c) libelous, defamatory, abusive, harassing, threatening, profane, pornographic, offensive, false, misleading, or which otherwise violates or encourages others to violate my sense of decorum, civility or any law, including intellectual property laws; or (d) “spam,” i.e. an attempt to advertise, solicit, or otherwise promote goods and services. You may, however, post a link to your site or your most recent blog entry.

5. You retain ownership of your comments. I do not own them and I expressly disclaim any and all liability that may result from them. By commenting on my site, you agree that you retain all ownership rights in what you post here and that you will relieve me from any and all liability that may result from those posts.

6. You grant me the license to post your comments. This license is worldwide, irrevocable, non-exclusive, and royalty-free. By posting comments on my site, you automatically grant me the right to store, use, transmit, display, publish, reproduce, and distribute your comments in any format, including but not limited to a blog, in a book, video, or presentation.

In short, my goal is to host interesting conversations with caring, honest, and respectful people. I believe this clear and simple comments policy will facilitate this.
